June 5, 2009 – It was D’s birthday and we planned to watch Angels and Demons at the local movie theatre. Unfortunately, my work hours ended at 3 pm which meant that if we were going to leave the kids at the Child Minding Center where Sophie was going, we would have to come back and pick them up at 5 pm. Since Frankie and D arrived at the office at 3 pm, obviously the time was not enough to watch a full feature film, especially since the movie started at 3:45 pm (thereabouts).
At any rate, since we cancelled the plan on watching the movie, D and I still had to pick up Sophie at the Center. There, Frankie was wide-eyed and alert watching the kids move around the place. You could see his obvious interest, but he held back – like an animal scoping out the new territory or something. Sophie, on the other hand, being the little showgirl that she is, ran this way and that, showing her father the things inside the Center.
After a few minutes or so, Frankie said that he wanted to go to his “Ate Pia” so I let him in.
Who doesn’t know about YouTube? Please raise your feet of you do not know YouTube!
Anyway, there are a lot of websites out there that you can watch snippets or music videos and such. As of the past few weeks, I have been going around YouTube looking at old music videos and such. Yeah, I just allowed myself to enjoy YouTube these days as the Internet connection is not that bad. But I’m not the only one who enjoys watching, my babies/kiddies love it as well. However, I have to be extra cautious at what videos I click because.. well.. some videos are not exactly child friendly..if you know what I mean.
I did make a mistake once, and after the fiasco with Sophie, you bet I try to screen them more!!
I got lucky two or three days ago when along with my RSS subscriptions, one of the blogs I subscribe to provided a link to TotLoL. He said his kids enjoyed it, and even he, himself, enjoys watching the videos there. Ever the curious cat, I visited the website, and guess what? I LOVED IT!!
TotLoL is like this specialized version of YouTube where you can watch videos. What I loved about the website is that all the shows are geared towards kids, babies, toddlers, and even parents or kids at heart. To top it off, all videos are handpicked by parents so you do not have to worry about running into inappropriate content! You can find videos that teach ABCs, 123s, some Internet hits, and even Superbook episodes! There are also some Disney clips, some Sesame clips, and more! Oh you can bet I loved the website. In fact, I don’t know how enjoyed it more, the kids or me? Hehehe..
Now we have established a ritual of viewing a couple of clips before Sophie and Frankie go to sleep.
Frankie really loves the singing Hippo and Dog.
I just thought to share it with parents whose kids love to use the Internet, or to those people who want to watch those shows they watched as kids. I know I do.
