Bear in Mind

Today looks rather promising, yes? :) Oh how I love to listen to the sound of falling rain. Reminds me so much of The Cascades’ “Rhythm of the Rain”. Do you like that song? I do… It is one of my earlier favorites.

I would like to share another artwork I did last December. It has a bit of a story to go with it, so I hope you don’t mind to sit down, share breakfast coffee with me as I tell you how this drawing came about:

It started with me recollecting this bag I used to have when I was in elementary school. It was yellow and brown, and it looked like a suitcase made out of cloth. It had these bear drawings in front that seemed to be peeking out of the front pocket, waving and smiling. I remember one particular bear drawing in that bag because back when I was in Grade 2, I used to try to copy the bear. In fact, I seem to recall that I did actually get to duplicate the bear just by copying it. Of course, the wanna-be artist that I currently am wanted to attempt to draw a bear as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, time and space prevented me from sitting in front of my sketchbook and sketch. One night, images of me drawing a bear just had to keep bothering my sleep, so I woke up at 2 in the morning and drew it all out.

So it started with the bear in pencil, I was going to use colored pencil, but I changed my mind and used oil pastels… after 2 hours or so.. Voila! I got my bear!

After I drew the bear, he never visited me again… maybe because I tied him to a balloon and sent him off to space. :P

So, what do you think of the drawing? :)

Choices

I know I rarely post my artwork anywhere. So from now on, I shall start posting my artwork here, categorized as Splotches of Art. You can click on the link on the navigation tab to get to the area where my drawings and whatever I come up with will be located.

This is one of last year’s drawings. I call it “Choices”. LOL I hope you like it.

Done waiting to exhale

You know, most people think I am the most stiff person there is in the world. Most may think I am kefi-deprived, who insists on making hospital corner ends and neatly stacked books from A-Z. I’m not.

Initially people think that the combination of my monobrow, towering (as if!) height, huge build, and proverbial pout is a perfect recipe for a catty, snobbish, intimidating person who has a huge chance of having some stick up her *cough*. Yeah, well, maybe… and maybe not. Yeah, okay so I can be “maldita”. However, deprived from kefi, I am not. Suppressed, I am. That’s all.

Here, I would like to share a post that I made somewhere out there, to better explain myself: (more…)
