Before you read this post, read this one first. Thank you.
I never thought I would say this, but lately I have been singing Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” again and again. Okay, so maybe it started when I watched Hannah Montana: The Movie, but apart from the movie, the song itself is quite good, actually. I think it suited the movie perfectly, and it is the type of song that speaks to a lot of people.
A lot of people have criticized the song because it has been sung about before. But seriously? Songs have repetitive topics anyway, what is the fuss if the song is about something that has been written many times before? You hear songs about love love love and what not, but you rarely hear any criticisms about that. Okay, maybe I am not a certified critic, but I think this song would reach out to the youth more than to the jaded oldies *cough*.
At any rate, I am not exactly a huge fan of Hannah Montana, but I like the song, truly. As much as I like the original song, I like this version better:
These are unsigned artists (Ahmir & David Sides) who use Youtube as their main method of getting heard.
Nice eh?

Okay, okay, so I am yapping away about life and its struggles. Still, it could be that it’s just my mantra right now, or it’s just that this song inspires me.
As what Pebbles would say, “Let’s keep moving forward…” and I agree!
Yesterday, I was browsing through the numerous pages of this blog checking posts of July last year, and even the year before that! Wouldn’t you know it? I actually have posted 553 entries – and counting, and it seems like a total waste if I did not update it as often as I could. These days I think I do need to let things out using my blog but I find myself out of words as I tred through the day. Does it mean that I do not have any more stories? Of course I do! However, I still do need to practice the habit of writing things down because I have not lost my habit of writing things down – in my head! Ergo, I lose the thought, which I could have blogged about. Not to worry, I have purchased a book where I constantly doodle and write snippets in. It should work, now all I need is a habit to push things through.
In other thoughts, I think I may have made a new friend as of the past week. This nice new friend is awesome, albeit a little bit eccentric? Still, he and I have reached this common interest – that of helping people and of music. Finally somebody I can relate to about my tastes in music who is not exactly decades older than me, and one who does not think I am crazy for choosing to like these types of music. It is not that he hits all of my favorite songs on the head, it is just that he is open to listening to the types of songs that I listen to, as well as refer some good songs to check out. Cool huh?
Check out this video that he shared with me:
I knew of Sammy Davis Jr. before, but I am not that well versed in terms of his contributions to entertainment history. However, I loved the clip above immensely. He totally mimicked the singers style of singing – and just over one song!
If you read my previous posts when it comes to songs and such, you may find that I do like jazz and songs that were popular even when my mom was not born! That’s why many of my friends keep telling me that I am old because of my taste, but I think not. However, I think I may be growing old backwards – not like Benjamin Button per se – but something like me liking older types of music at the wrong time? Bah.. I cannot explain it myself. However I do think I was born at the wrong time… LOL either that or I just like music that is not usual for people my age.
I do wish I could sing though.
Anyway, listen to my private radio if you want to listen to the types of songs I mix. It may not be pretty as I have not sorted things out yet. Visit it at http://www.blip.fm/neverdainty. See you there!
It is right around midnight in my neighborhood, and unfortunately, as much as I would love, love, love to go to sleep – I can’t. Why? Our neighbors are, as what D says, “merciless”. How so? I believe they think that they are singing their hearts out as in-tune as they think to songs on a MagicSing, I suppose. I am not a singer by any means, I doubt if I even have the talent to carry a tune. But I do love my music, and well, I think at least one of ‘em loud mouthed *singers* is actually nice to listen to.
The funny thing was when one of the guys belted out to “As Long As You Love Me”, I just had to sing along. Aghast with the song, D and I went into a pseudo-debate about boy bands. Which got me thinking, do you like the Backstreet Boys?

I just read from a Plurk of a contact that the well-loved and ever popular, Francis Magalona has just passed away at noon today. News of his passing was officially announced by the hosts of “Eat Bulaga.” Francis Magalona was 44 years old.

FrancisM or Master Rapper was credited as the first Filipino rapper in the Philippines who was known for successfully crossing over to the mainstream. He was married to Pia Arroyo, and they have eight children. In August 2008, Magalona was diagnosed with leukemia at Medical City Hospital, Mandaluyong. After his long struggle with his sickness and numerous wins with his battle against himself, he has been granted rest while admitted at the said hospital.
~~
It saddens me that Francis Magalona passed away. His songs has been popular with the youth today and of the previous generations. These are the type of songs that invoke a sense of nationalism in the voice that the youth listens to.
I can certainly say that his songs are ones that make me really proud to be a Filipino.
Truly, Francis Magalona will forever be remembered, and the impact he has made amongst Filipinos will forever be heard by the youth and the young at heart.
May God rest your soul.

Mga Kababayan Ko by Francis Magalona
Chorus
Mga kababayan ko
Dapat lang malaman nyo
Bilib ako sa kulay ko
Ako ay pilipino
Kung may itim or may puti
Maging banal at wag hangal
Itong tula ay alay ko
Sa inyo at sa buong mundoRepeat chorus
