Roam

Admit it. Sometimes in life there are those moments where you find yourself in a stump and you look this way and that, only to find roads empty and dusty. Rain has not passed yet, but you are not exactly basking in the sunshine, are you dearie?

See, this would be me right now. I am stumped. I am sitting on a stump that I do not want to be on. The ragged cut of the tree stump is not exactly doing any miracles to my tushie except make it as similar to J. Lo’s (not that I object y’know.. after all, it is an ass-et). Still, sitting on it got me close to wondering where the heck am I?

See, I would like to roam now. I would like to run free. I would like to live for even just a while and do things without an abcdeFg about what she said, what he said, what they said. Puhleeze! Too many noises! Can I please drown you out with some good ole Guns n’ Roses? Or or or… wait, I am gonna go with those peaceful nature sounds you can easily locate on YouTube (thank God for YouTube!).

Saturday trip to Zamboanguita and Frankie’s Firsts

I guess you could say that starting Friday, the weekend was full of surprises and adventure. Not only did Frankie get to have his first trip to the Child Minding Center, but last Saturday, he also got his first “long ride” and first trip out of the city, oh, and his first night away from our bedroom. LOL

We were not planning on going with the rest of D’s family to Zamboanguita to celebrate his birthday together with his cousin’s birthday. However, we changed our minds and went after them. It was quite easy to catch up with them since D knows his aunt’s location in Zamboanguita. I know it would have been a killjoy of me if I did not go, but then I realized that I had no “other” things to do at home aside from my usual sitting in front of the computer. So we thought it was best to let the computers rest and stay away from the Internet even for one night. Besides, we were wondering how Frankie would fare on longer ride compared to the ones he is used to, especially outside of the city, and in another house for that matter. No questions asked about Sophie because she already left with the group as she was excited at the prospect of travelling already.

Suffice it to say that I sorely missed travelling. It has been YEARS since I have gone out of Dumaguete and the trip to Zamboanguita was a bit of fresh air – literally – to my computer-filled life. Okay, so yeah, I did bring Emily along, but that was only upon the request of D that we bring it because he was scared that since nobody was left at home, somebody might steal the computers (we locked away John (the PC) inside our room and padlocked it). I guess my friends’ predictions about me lugging a laptop wherever I go is indeed the truth. LOL

Frankie’s Trip to the Center

June 5, 2009 – It was D’s birthday and we planned to watch Angels and Demons at the local movie theatre. Unfortunately, my work hours ended at 3 pm which meant that if we were going to leave the kids at the Child Minding Center where Sophie was going, we would have to come back and pick them up at 5 pm. Since Frankie and D arrived at the office at 3 pm, obviously the time was not enough to watch a full feature film, especially since the movie started at 3:45 pm (thereabouts).

At any rate, since we cancelled the plan on watching the movie, D and I still had to pick up Sophie at the Center. There, Frankie was wide-eyed and alert watching the kids move around the place. You could see his obvious interest, but he held back – like an animal scoping out the new territory or something. Sophie, on the other hand, being the little showgirl that she is, ran this way and that, showing her father the things inside the Center.

After a few minutes or so, Frankie said that he wanted to go to his “Ate Pia” so I let him in.

Aaron Stone and the Impact of Gaming

Last night, Disney Philippines gave a two-hour premier of Aaron Stone, one of its new television series that was just released this year. To give a short overview of the pilot and the first episode, Charlie Landers (portrayed by Kelly Blatz) is a 16 year old online gamer. He plays “Hero Rising” using an avatar called “Aaron Stone”, and is known for being the best player of the said game. His life changes quite dramatically when the  creator and owner of “Hero Rising” recruits him and in one way or another (plus some awesome gadgets) Charlie becomes Aaron Stone.  The series then follows his challenges both while playing the game and somewhat incorporating his moves in the game to real life scenarios when he battles evil-doers in the name of good.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the episodes was, “what if children actually thought they could be something like Aaron Stone?”

This WAS me

I was just about to dig through my albums when I remembered that I had Ehn scan two of my old pictures for.. I forgot what purposes. Oh right, for Scrappin’ Mondaze. However, I did not really get to use them.

As per request of Maree, I would like to share my “baby” face with the rest of the world. :D

To reduce the loading time of my website, you can see the pictures after the jump!!
