Ladies, gentlemen, show me your footprints!

Your DIGITAL footprints, that is.

I am in a bit of a stump right now, and a slew of articles have my name on it. So I figured, why not stretch my brain muscles a bit and see how far I can let my brain reach into the depths of Internet abyss? Actually, my teacher/friend’s blog inspired me to make this post as a bit of a tribute to the Internet and my 11 years of roaming around the World Wide Web.

First, let me ask you this question:

How many Internet accounts do you have and are these still active?

Me? Oh I do not have a lot of accounts online. Hrhrhr.. you can ask my friends if they can keep up with all the accounts I have, I’m sure they can answer you the number. However, if I had to answer you, I could say: I HAVE NO IDEA. Lainee calls me a person suffering from split personality, but I beg to differ. How about you tell me what you think after I TRY to remember everything? Oh, there will be no links.. heeheehee hop on memory train and let’s see what I did… :)

Typing in the Dark

This is my first post using Q10. Q10 is this writing tool that can be used when writing blog entries or doing other “writing” activities you may be doing. What it does is it engulfs your computer screen in black, and just gives you your cursor and the whole space to type your thoughts. You do not need to turn off all other processes because you can always access them again with a quick Alt + Tab.

The Q10 Environment

The ultimate goal of this tool is to provide you with a clear space without being easily distracted by possible popouts or alerts from YM, Twitter, or Gtalk. I know I get easily distracted when people IM me or something. Of course, I have not yet tried this when somebody IMs me, but at least it keeps me from moving from tab to tab. Truly a great tool especially if you want things to be done as fast as you can without much distractions. This can totally work if you are trying to make your own unique blogs to convey your thoughts. I am not so sure for writing assignments that require you to do much research, but I have found that it makes concentrating easy because you have no other thingies that are cluttering your view.

I think the best thing about Q10 is that you can customize the font, color, and all other details by just changing the .ini file. This is a definite good thing for me especially since I prefer certain typefaces because these are easier on my eyes.

Farm Town OUTAGE of 2009

Written: June 9, 2009 (but I failed to post it… Sorry dudes)

Do you do Facebook? If you do, I am pretty sure that you at least have an inkling as to what Farm Town is. Yes, like Pet Society, Restaurant City, Mafia Wars, and all other apps in Facebook, Farm Town is one of those interactive games where people enjoy themselves immersed in a game that is as addictive as any drug out there.

I quote one farmer in the Slashkey forum who said:

“Farm Town is like Crack to people, is it?”

2009 NBA Playoffs Kicks Off

Based on Philippine time, today is the start of the 2009 NBA Playoffs. I have been waiting for this day to come for months and months, hoping that my favorite team will win. However, I must admit that I have been a bit of a delinquent fan as I was not able to keep tabs on what was happening pre-Playoffs.

The first round of the Playoff season will start with the following matches:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detrioit Pistons
  • Atlanta Hawks vs Miami Heat
  • Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers
  • Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls
  • L.A. Lakers vs Utah Jazz
  • Portland Trail Blazers vs Houston Rockets
  • San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks
  • Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets

You can be sure that my heart broke when I learned about horrifying news from my husband last Friday. My beloved Manu Ginobili will be sitting out the Playoffs and the rest of the season!! WHY?! Well, reports said that the injuries he has sustained will hinder him from making a comeback while the SPURS are battling it off during Playoffs. Since Manu is part of the The Big Three (Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili), it just would not be the same watching the games without him adding a lot of the fun parts and the shouting D and I enjoy so much during Playoffs.

Heck, add problems to injury, the San Antonio SPURS have to face the Dallas Mavericks during the first round. It is without a doubt that the SPURS may run into some problems this season without Manu Ginobili. It is a fact that Manu is great at clutch play, stepping in and boosting the SPURS whenever they need it. Plus, despite the fact that he is not in the top-five (upon his request), he plays a huge part in San Antonio’s game.

GAME 1 [SPURS vs MAVS]: Okay, SPURS lost. Mavericks (105) to SPURS (97) Can I first express my dismay that I am extremely annoyed that Balls TV did not show the game? Next. I am really, really, very sad that the SPURS lost. It’s okay though. I think it was quite a fight despite the fact that I did not get to see the game. Maybe next time I will get to watch it. However, I cannot help but wonder what if Manu Ginobili was there? I think they would have won the game if he was… given that he was not injured. I look forward to the next game with as high hopes as before… although watching them play is not really as fun as when Manu is there.

LOL, I know I sound like a total fan, and I am. If you have read this blog for perhaps a year, you would know that I love, love, love, love the San Antonio SPURS. I love Manu Ginobili even more, so much so that I named my son after him. Teeeheee.. Oh well, here goes:

GO, SPURS, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Sauna = Weight loss!

So there I was yesterday, surfing through the tubes of the awesome telly, when I chanced upon Home Shopping Network (aka HSN) and saw an infomercial of Total Sauna. The commercial boasted of “1 inch and 1 pound off in just 20 minutes”, and if you were moi, wouldn’t you stop to see what the hubbub was about?

AMAZING! You just sit down inside the Total Sauna for 20 minutes a day, and in as short as 2-3 weeks, you can lose up to six pounds, starting with that one pound off on your first 20 minutes, guaranteed! LOL If weight loss were that easy, I would definitely purchase Total Sauna in an instant. I would, really, but the price made me yelp. Php. 5,995.00 for a tent-looking makeshift sauna + steamer + diet book?! Thanks, but no thanks. That’s a whole lotta money to shell off just to get myself all sweaty.

If I wanted to sweat, I could sweat in a couple of minutes thanks to Global Warming and the Summer heat. Given the rate that I sweat these days based on the scorching heat of Summer, I should be able to lose a pound a day, yes? If that really works. LOL

While a sauna does have tons of benefits, I think it is wrong that they are trying to pawn off sweating via sauna as means of weight loss without exactly explaining how it goes. From what I gathered, the use of a sauna is not to be considered as primary means of losing weight. It can be used as a booster though for weight loss after proper diet and exercise has been performed. This is because saunas help remove excess water and salt through perspiration.

So in a way, yes, Total Sauna just might work for people who have the budget to purchase the device. But like I said, who needs a sauna when the Philippines, or at least in my part of the country, feels like a sauna with a vengeance. If sauna works well for weight loss, then who needs to exercise when the world feels like one giant sauna?
