Admiring La Limar Resort in La Libertad, Negros Oriental

Last week was one of those weeks where the perks of working at the Pristine Asylum were placed on the table. By this I mean that we get to go on road trips to certain places in Negros Oriental – or even to other provinces.

This time around, I joined some of my colleagues on a check up trip to Jimalalud, Tayasan, Ayungon, and Manjuyod. We were there to do some troubleshooting, minor training, and a bunch of other crazy things. We also had to talk to the Mayor of the Municipality of La Libertad for some concerns regarding our work.

Now during our talk with the Mayor, we were fortunate enough to meet him at La Limar Resort. You have to understand that I have never been to La Limar before this experience, and to say that I was awestruck by the beauty of the place would be an understatement.

Okay, so I know that there are other fancy resorts in Negros Oriental, but there was just something about La Limar that took my breath away. From the outside, it doesn’t look that sosy or something because it looks like our regular beaches – not exactly “resort material”. Boy was I surprised when I felt the cool breeze and saw the wonderful infinity pool.

Here, check out some of the pictures that I took from the resort. It’s quite affordable with its Php. 50.00 per adult head for a day of swimming (Php. 30.00 per child), or Php. 1,400.00 for an overnight stay – good for 6 people. That’s quite a steal already, yes? Anyway, here you go.. I keep stalling.. LOL [WARNING: LOTSA LOTSA PICTURES AHEAD!!!]

Passing thoughts on the Dead Poet’s Society

I just finished watching the movie called “Dead Poet’s Society”. I’ve actually seen this movie before, but I believe I was just in elementary then. Ah, the beauty of HBO, where nice movies are shared to everybody – or was it Cinemax?

Anyway, if you have not seen the movie yet, I recommend that you go and stream it somewhere or maybe find a good source or something. :D It is quite good, really, very good. Besides, it would not be voted as one of the Top 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time if it did not strike a few heartstrings here and there. It definitely caused my tears to fall because of sadness, made my stomach hurt out of laughter, and definitely inspired me to do more.

I would like to share with you a conversation I extracted from the movie, which means something to me, and I shall explain later why (I actually just Googled this. :D ) :

McAllister: You take a big risk by encouraging them to be artists, John. When they realize they’re not Rembrandts, Shakespeares or Mozarts, they’ll hate you for it.
Keating: We’re not talking artists, George, we’re talking freethinkers.
McAllister: Freethinkers at seventeen?
Keating: Funny — I never pegged you as a cynic.
McAllister: Not a cynic, a realist. Show me the heart unfettered by foolish dreams, and I’ll show you a happy man.
Keating: But only in their dreams can man be truly free. ‘Twas always thus, and always thus will be.
McAllister: Tennyson?
Keating: No, Keating.

Extracted from the Dead Poet’s Society.

If you are wondering why that dialogue caught my attention, it may be because I could say the views reflected above more or less mirror my sentiments against somebody else’s. I have the same views – more or less – as Mr. Keating’s, while the other person has Mr. McAllister’s point of view.

Ten Inch Hero: Comments and such

If you follow my Tweets, Plurks, and Tumblr posts, you may know by now that I am gaga over Jensen Ackles. LOL Hey, no worries, even D likes the dude and he totally sees what I see in Jensen. But he is not that crazy over Jensen Ackles that he would create a website dedicated to just uploading pictures of Jensen… I mean, we’re not the type to do that okay? ;) LOL [note: sorry, it's an inside / sarcastic joke *payce!*]

Anyway, I came across the movie, “Ten Inch Hero” because I saw it in the filmography list of Jensen Ackles in Wikipedia. I have to admit that I took time to see this movie because of *ehem* the hottie hot hottiie. :D BUT I am about to comment on the movie without being biased because a certain hottie is starring in it.

Seriously though, what peaked my curiosity was the fact that Jensen looked like this in the movie:

I thought, “is he a punk in this movie? Or is he a drug addict? dealer? bad boy? what?” Then I saw this YouTube vid that was posted by a fellow Jensen Ackles fan where the hottie was shown shopping for tampons, wearing an outfit close to the pictures I saw of Jensen Ackles in the Ten Inch Hero. It was too dayum funny that I just had to have my hands on the movie.

On a steel horse, I ride

Hrhrhrhr I am brimming with giddiness as I prepare myself to write this post. Warning for the weary hearted, this is not a short one. ;)

Remember I said I had a little sumthing sumthing that you do not know about right? Well, I just want to say that I have a new baby. His name is Axl (after Axl Rose of Guns ‘n Roses – duh!). As for why I named my baby Axl, you will know in a while. Anyway, Axl is my new steel horse which I ride with pride and attitude.;) Okay, so yeah, Axl is my new motorcycle!! Yipee!! Finally, finally, finally, I have my own motorcycle! That’s another strike out of my wish list! LOL

Although I have always been pining for my own motorcycle since I was around 12 years old, I never really got my wish, so I thought maybe it was high time I fulfilled another of my wishes by myself. At least I am not asking anybody for it huh? Anyway, I rode on the excuse of finding a real pressing need for a motorcycle caused by the crazy road conditions here at Dumaguete where all roads lead away from the city. Plus, there was a window of opportunity that was fueled by the fact that some of my mates at the Pristine Asylum were going to purchase their own steel horses as well.

Now after scouting around the various models and brands, I initially planned on purchasing a Kawasaki Fury, which was what Little Lulu was getting. Miss Muffet was going to get the same model, but we asked her to rethink her decision because she was a bit on the petite side. I changed my mind about the Kawasaki Fury since when I mounted it, it felt kinda heavy to maneuver, and with my scoliosis, my back would die.

Then Miss Muffet decided on getting the new Yamaha Vega. I thought maybe I would get that as well. However, D was against the model and brand, because his preference was anything my Honda. Plus, he thought the Vega had a big butt. LOL He wanted Honda XRM, but he knew that I was not keen on XRM so he thought we could just settle for the Honda Wave 100. However, after browsing the Honda Philippines website, D showed me the link of the new Honda XRM 125 RS, which he thought looked nice. Since my friends were going to a contacted dealer, I told D that I will just tell him what I find and decide on.

My friends and I did get our steel horses at the end of the day. Just so you know have an idea how it the motorcycles look, I took the liberty of taking pictures. ;)   (click on the images for bigger versions)

Kawasaki Fury (I think this is a sweet ride, but it’s not mine, it belongs to Little Lulu).

Yamaha Vega (I kinda agree with D that the butt looks a little bit on the big side, and it’s not mine, it belongs to Miss Muffet).

This, my friends, is Axl:

Typing in the Dark

This is my first post using Q10. Q10 is this writing tool that can be used when writing blog entries or doing other “writing” activities you may be doing. What it does is it engulfs your computer screen in black, and just gives you your cursor and the whole space to type your thoughts. You do not need to turn off all other processes because you can always access them again with a quick Alt + Tab.

The Q10 Environment

The ultimate goal of this tool is to provide you with a clear space without being easily distracted by possible popouts or alerts from YM, Twitter, or Gtalk. I know I get easily distracted when people IM me or something. Of course, I have not yet tried this when somebody IMs me, but at least it keeps me from moving from tab to tab. Truly a great tool especially if you want things to be done as fast as you can without much distractions. This can totally work if you are trying to make your own unique blogs to convey your thoughts. I am not so sure for writing assignments that require you to do much research, but I have found that it makes concentrating easy because you have no other thingies that are cluttering your view.

I think the best thing about Q10 is that you can customize the font, color, and all other details by just changing the .ini file. This is a definite good thing for me especially since I prefer certain typefaces because these are easier on my eyes.
