June 5, 2009 – It was D’s birthday and we planned to watch Angels and Demons at the local movie theatre. Unfortunately, my work hours ended at 3 pm which meant that if we were going to leave the kids at the Child Minding Center where Sophie was going, we would have to come back and pick them up at 5 pm. Since Frankie and D arrived at the office at 3 pm, obviously the time was not enough to watch a full feature film, especially since the movie started at 3:45 pm (thereabouts).
At any rate, since we cancelled the plan on watching the movie, D and I still had to pick up Sophie at the Center. There, Frankie was wide-eyed and alert watching the kids move around the place. You could see his obvious interest, but he held back – like an animal scoping out the new territory or something. Sophie, on the other hand, being the little showgirl that she is, ran this way and that, showing her father the things inside the Center.
After a few minutes or so, Frankie said that he wanted to go to his “Ate Pia” so I let him in.
Oh how time flies…
Last Sunday, my little mermaid (Sophia) and I went with the people, who live up the hill, to the beach. Oh she had so much fun alright. She kept begging me to take her to the beach that very instant. What mother could say no?
Unfortunately, for the lack of a digital camera, I was unable to take pictures of my little mermaid as she splish splashed all over the place in her pink swimsuit. Nevertheless, I realized that I have not posted any pictures of her lately, and so I have decided to put show you of how she has grown.
She will be turning 3 in a couple of days… December 12 to be exact. *ehem* reminders to all the ninongs and ninangs.
Anyway, I tried to check as to what astrological sign she falls under – so I can justify her love of water. As it turns out, she is not exactly affiliated with water. Her element is Fire, like me. She is a Sagittarius. So far, from what I read, the “associated traits” of a Sagittarius fit her to a “T”. Indeed, she is, in my humble opinion:
… NO, you may not tell me she is EXACTLY like me.
Anyway, here are some of her newer pictures. My mom took these when she came to visit (click on pictures for bigger/clearer view).

Mitch has this going meme at her new website and she has asked me to participate. Why not, right? I think it would be fun, except I guess for the question for the week:

Would you allow your child to go out on a date at an early age (as early as 16)? What do you think you’d feel about it if one day your child would ask you “Ma, can I got out on Friday night with…..?
My answer is..
NO!
Just kidding.
Well, at the age of 16, my kiddoz would be getting close to college. If I had to tap into my past and drudge up what a hellion I was at that age, and judging from the current disposition my children have, I MIGHT say NO! NO! NO! NO! and NO!
But that would only light a fire to a rebellious streak I know for a fact that both of them have. Ehem. I believe they take that from Dhirrac and I.
Dhirrac has already declared, even before Sophie was born, that he would allow them to go out – as he was allowed to do when he was younger. Me, I think I am a LOT more strict compared to Dhirrac, so the children would have to tangle with me before they get what they want or deserve. So the answer would probably depend on the situation.
Who doesn’t know about YouTube? Please raise your feet of you do not know YouTube!
Anyway, there are a lot of websites out there that you can watch snippets or music videos and such. As of the past few weeks, I have been going around YouTube looking at old music videos and such. Yeah, I just allowed myself to enjoy YouTube these days as the Internet connection is not that bad. But I’m not the only one who enjoys watching, my babies/kiddies love it as well. However, I have to be extra cautious at what videos I click because.. well.. some videos are not exactly child friendly..if you know what I mean.
I did make a mistake once, and after the fiasco with Sophie, you bet I try to screen them more!!
I got lucky two or three days ago when along with my RSS subscriptions, one of the blogs I subscribe to provided a link to TotLoL. He said his kids enjoyed it, and even he, himself, enjoys watching the videos there. Ever the curious cat, I visited the website, and guess what? I LOVED IT!!
TotLoL is like this specialized version of YouTube where you can watch videos. What I loved about the website is that all the shows are geared towards kids, babies, toddlers, and even parents or kids at heart. To top it off, all videos are handpicked by parents so you do not have to worry about running into inappropriate content! You can find videos that teach ABCs, 123s, some Internet hits, and even Superbook episodes! There are also some Disney clips, some Sesame clips, and more! Oh you can bet I loved the website. In fact, I don’t know how enjoyed it more, the kids or me? Hehehe..
Now we have established a ritual of viewing a couple of clips before Sophie and Frankie go to sleep.
Frankie really loves the singing Hippo and Dog.
I just thought to share it with parents whose kids love to use the Internet, or to those people who want to watch those shows they watched as kids. I know I do.
Well, so far, the kiddies have some improvement.
Frankie has managed to overcome the frightful fever had is now as active as a baby coming out of sickness. At least he has recovered a bit. I wish I could say the same for Sophie. Unfortunately, just as we thought she was out of the woods, cough and cold got her sick – again. In her weakened state, her fever came back, and now we are facing a new battle. I pray that she will be okay by tomorrow. Between Frankie’s minor sniffles to Sophie’s constant crying, and my endlessly growing hole in the pocket, I honestly do not know how much further I can go on.
