Aiming to be Crafty

Dude, I have no idea if it is Christmas season that is inclining me to be crafty or not.

It started yesterday early morning when I was browsing eBay PH for a sleek belt bag  that I could use when or if I go jogging. I just need a miniscule pouch or  bag where a cellphone or some cash can fit into. Plus, if I do not get hold of those small Php 500 peso-ish fake clip on mp3 players, then those bigger mp3 players should also fit in the belt bag… right?

Then I thought, “Why not make my own belt bag?” I thought hard and calculated that finding some scraps around the house might prove to be useful enough for me to stitch together my own belt bag. Besides, I think that torn knapsack could be recycled into a belt bag or so. Or I could use the connecting chuva as the belt bag’s connectors… can you hear the gears in my brain creaking? Yes, imagine with me please, because in my mind’s eye, I know I can do it! I will do it! Oh yes, I know how to sew! Or at least I think so… I know I used to – and that is what we are trying to figure out with this project! :) Besides, if I do well with this, I could market this skill and make belt bags for joggers everywhere!! Right? Right? Right?

Okay, so with that in mind, I already tried scouring my stacks of books for that sewing book I had when I was a kiddo. Betty Crocker? No… she’s the cooking chuva right? Uhmmm.. Gosh darn it! I forgot the author of the kiddie book! But I remember that there was a tut for small belt pouches, which I can always alter. Anyway..

A few minutes later, I was surfing the web before running of to the Pristine Asylum, I saw this wish list of somebody where she wanted to purchase one of those floppy berets that look like this. And then I thought, “Oh, I need one!” Well, I do need one… I was actually looking for something like that to use when I ride Axl around so that my unruly mane could be subdued.

After once again checking eBay, I found one of these floppy berets that cost around Php 350 + shipping of Php 120. Before I could post the thought into my must-buy, I looked at the picture and thought, heck, why not make one of my own?? See? I am totally feeling the craftiness of the world these days.

Oh yes, I know how to crochet. Who doesn’t? At our high school, girls are taught how to crosstitch and crochet. Even in college, I used to dabble with crochet still by making some drinking glass jackets and selling them. LMAO Then I tried to make a blouse for my cousin… but that was tiring and I do not think I will try blouses again.

Floppy hats. Now, I could always try making that. Besides, if I could exercise my crocheting skills, I could sell those floppy hats or something. Or maybe just whip one of those out for Christmas gifts! LOL and LOL again.

So far, two projects have popped into my head. No, I shall not attempt to create other products until I have made sure that I still know how to do a chain stitch, or even thread a needle. LMAO Still, it is a fun prospect… I could use those things even if they fail since the end results are still free. But watch out! The minute I can discover that I can still do it, maybe one day I will go to market! LOL

P.S. I just checked out some of the crochet stuff at Wiki and I can feel my nosebleed. Can I really do this?? Bah! I will never know until I experiment. :P

ooh, i know the feeling! i remember being crafty way back in elementary and high school days. I was pretty happy w/ my creations and i got to use some of them too! i remember making my own purse bag for prom (sewed it myself and i was proud i saved a lot instead of buying a new one), a hand pouch for little things i brought to school, and my favorite ones are these crafty frames and boxes that i decorated my room with, crafty bookmarks i gave out to my classmates for souvenirs… whew! and the list goes on. i had so much crafty inspiration then, i don’t know why. maybe it’s because that was a time when i didn’t even know how about the internet.

i kinda miss those things i used to do passionately before facebook was born. *sigh* just sharing.

ps. got a new blog url, sorry i changed it again. i have major privacy issue at work so i had to. :)

@Lainee: hrmm… I fear that the crocheted minipouch may not hold long when jogging.. but I could try. :)
