Before you read this post, read this one first. Thank you.
Ohkay, so you may be wondering why I named my steel horse “Axl” after the Guns ‘n Roses lead singer, Axl Rose. Actually, for starters, I have always liked his name, and I have decided long ago that I would name at least one of my children “Axl”. Unfortunately, D would have none of that (imagine Frankie being called “Axl”?). So little boy did not get called “Axl”, and none of my gadgets and stuff felt like it suited the name “Axl”.
Now, it so happens that my choice of “road music” whenever I drive motorcycles is rock. It feels totally right, you know. Well, at least for me it does. Like when I was preggo with Sophie, I would have earphones in and rotate Guns ‘n Roses, Metallica, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, and all those greats in my beat up mp3 player as I rode around town in my grandfather’s motorcycle.
When I rode Axl around town the past few days, rock songs still played in my mind (because I have no gadget that can play music), mainly because I still feel like it is juuuuuuuust right. So when I badgered D about naming our steel horse, he said I could have a say. I immediately said, “Axl” and almost instantaneously saw him wince. I told him, “hey! If you refuse to let me name any child of ours ‘Axl’, you have to let me name something Axl.” So he nodded in consent!
Oh yes, that made me a very happy puppy.
An interesting part where my daydreams have taken me recently is this scenario: Me riding Axl around a smooth road, wind in my hair, my shades on, blasting “Carry on Wayward Son” by Kansas, leaving a trail of dust behind.
LOL. Oh okay, so you may think this is because I am a Supernatural freak, but I think there is a deeper reason for that scene. See, my late uncle was my heavy influence when it comes to listening to rock music. Incidentally, he loved to ride motorcycles, just as I do too. Unfortunately, he perished during a head on collision while on his motorcycle. So, dig this: my uncle introduced me to a lot of rock songs, like the Kansas song, and he promised to teach me how to ride the motorcycle (but that was before he died). For me, that might be the biggest influence. Besides, I did learn to drive a motorcycle when I was 10 years old – because my uncle promised to teach me how to drive when I turned 10. He died when I was 10 years old and 1 month old.
Plus, the lyrics of “Carry on Wayward Son” feels super right (here is just a snippet of it).
Carry on my wayward son,
For there’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Now don’t you cry no more
In case you are curious, IF I had something to play mp3s with when driving around, I would have these in my playlist:
Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas
Sweet Child o’ Mine by Guns ‘n Roses
Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi
Cherry Pie by Warrant
We’re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sisters
Cum On Feel the Noize by Quiet Riot
Born To Be Wild by Steppen Wolf
Highway to Hell – AC/DC
Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions
18 and Life – Skid Row
Welcome to the Jungle by Guns ‘n Roses
Okay, like I said, these are just SOME of the tunes that I would put in my playlist. I’d add more to the list but I have hit the lazy level right now, so I shall blog more tomorrow or soon. \m/ Rock on!

Carry on Wayward Son is the song that plays during the most dramatic moments in Supernatural , right Lurch? So rock! And so Dean!
