Sunday Snippets #3

I just had one of the longest weeks of my life. Today just could not get any worse… Still, I shall blog to keep an open mind about the things that have happened, and allow myself to lift the weight in my heart and my shoulders by asking you to comment on this situation:

True story: Earlier today, I was robbed. What started off as my extension of helpfulness somewhat turned against me when I tried to help somebody who was looking for the ladies’ room. Apparently, the lady was a theif, and she had an accomplice who was stealing my wallet as I was indicating the location of the ladies’ room. In my wallet was basically my whole identity, and all of my money: cash cards, ATM, IDs, and marriage certificate. I simply thought she was a student who did not know her way around the place. When I learned about the theft, and most importantly of the modus, I was fuming.

Now my question is this: If you saw the lady again, what would you do?

Reminder: This is a free writing meme, so set your timers to 10-20 minutes and just write down all your thoughts about the topic, or not, and forget about the errors, the grammar, the spelling. Write fast, but do not rush. Ready? GO!

Time start: 8:40 PM

The situation above is true. It did happen to me a few hours ago. I am still in shock, so pardon my question, but I hope that you will still answer this week’s snippets. Actually, I am still enraged about what happened. I have this vision that when I see that lady again, I am going to punch her in the face. Yes folks, unfortunately I am a little bit on the violent side when I am angry. I do need to have some anger management sessions – that if I have time. You can imagine an anime character in BERSERK mode, and that would be me.

However, for the sake of my children, I know that I cannot act too harshly whenever I find myself angered. Yet whenever I think about what happened, i just cannot imagine the GALL of the lady. I mean, I was in a populated area, minding my own business, waiting for something I purchased, and then I they go on and prey on people who are just kind enough to talk to strangers who are in need of help?! Pffffft..! Somehow I am inclined to think that snatching is better than what I had gone through because at some point, those who got snatched do not get to slam their heads onto walls blaming themselves, and recalling minute by minute that small conversation that they had. Okay, so maybe those who got snatched also relive their experience and shock again and again – my bad. I am sorry. Still have not shaken the shock off.

At any rate, maybe I will just confront the lady. Ask her kindly to give me back my cards, identification, etc. Heck, if she wants the cash, she can have the cash! I want my stuff back. I am not saying that money is tight. God knows that that was the last amount I had, and that I do not know where I can come up with money after tomorrow, but I think it would just be easier or happier for that matter, if I got my things back.

Argh.. I still want to wring her neck. My left palm is actually bruised now as I kept punching it out of frustration. D reckons I should get a punching bag for me to unload all frustrations. Argh! argh! and ARGH some more.

Oh, and I got information from a source that these ladies are from Mindanao, and that they hit companies such as Jollibee for stealing wallets and stuff.. pffffffffffftttt I hope they dont get any sleep at night.

Time end: 8:50 PM

    Big sad.

Dumaguete is not as idyllic it once was. Commercial centers need to beef up their security measures. Another moral is to always trust in the goodness of everybody but, at the same time, to never let your purse out of your sight.

Am glad you are safe, although a few thousand pesos poorer as of the moment.

Hmmm… I’m sorry maot… now being a good samaritan sometimes punches us in the face which makes us think twice about helping others. :(

If it makes you feel better, I also heard about this modus operandi a few years ago at Rusty Lopez. Apparently, this pregnant woman was asking a customer her opinion of a pair or sandals and her accomplice robbed her. So sad….

I’m in a bit of a hurry today… I’ll chat with you when I see you okay? mwaaaaaah*

I’m just so happy you’re not harmed in anyway. You’re cards will hopefully turn up maot…I’m crossing my fingers.

@miss feyoh: yeah.. from what i heard, those who have the Jollibee modus are females from ozamiz. not sure how true it is, but our uhhhh contacts went to see some of them, and apparently the females who stole from me are from another group.

@zee: thanks maot.. i dont want to change my mind when it comes to helping people out… i guess i should just strap my wallets to my neck.. or as what D suggests, I hide them in my bra. can you imagine me taking out money from my bra when paying at Jollibee? pffffft
