End of a LONG week

[written July 3, 2009: but I fell asleep on the laptop.. so it was not posted. :P ]

Hey all, how is your long week? Me, I am so tired… So tired that I keep asking people for hugs – even online, but not so much offline. Since my last post, let’s just say that a lot of things has happened. I need to write them down so as to unload some of the weight that feels like lead in my heart, brain, and.. soul? This is bound to be a long post, so sit back, grab some coffee, and start hitting the down button.. or the mousewheel, whichever floats your boat.

Back to School Lurchie

Okay, I never thought I would go back to school. Sure, I mean, I always wanted to, but knowing myself to be a very deliquent student, I feared going back to school. I guess I lost the fear because last Monday, I enrolled myself at a Masters program at Silliman University. We have classes every Saturday only, which is cool – that means I have to go to school tomorrow. Hopefully, we will just get loads of assignments and be dismissed early so I can grab some Zzzs.. So that will be three subjects, that are computer related, of course, but I think this is somewhat geared for higher positions such as project management.

Judging from my reaction to the assignments, I think this should go well. I finally have the urge and drive to make assignments almost immediately after the teachers assign it. LOL. Gah! Weird? Maybe not for most of you, but this is actually very weird for somebody who managed to finish her college studies by uhhhh being a deliquent. Seriously, if my grandma did not tell me that I would graduate behind my friends if I did not go to school immediately after high school, I would have simply chosen to skip college and work. LOL (as if that applies to life in the Philippines).

So yeah, I am back in school. I am excited, and I am… raring to go!

New Team Leader at Parole School

Another thing happened this week – we got a new team leader at Parole School. He is younger than our previous head, and like most changes, he is quite different compared to the previous one. Huh, great! However, I doubt if that makes any difference in my life, since there is a huge chance that I just might be out of a job by the end of the month – well, chances are like 90-10 percent. 90 being my leaving. But worry not, a ball has been set into motion, so I should not be that impaired and can still provide the kids food and all their other needs. At any rate, I just need to check how I will fare with the new team leader.

A DEATH in the FAMILY

Well, okay, the death is not exactly in MY immediate family, but a member of our family – D’s cousin died last Sunday, June 28, 2009. D’s cousin is Ismael C. Arroyo, Jr., and he died because somebody stabbed him to death. Actually, the whole story is quite gory, yet somehow out of a movie.

See, D’s cousin was ganged up on by a bunch of people. However, there was just one person who headed the group, who dealt all the stab wounds to D’s cousin. The other guys hit him on the head, back, and I have no idea where else, so much so that he was almost unconscious, and the other guy was able to do more stabbing. Then D’s cousin was able to take the knife from the final stab on his abdomen, and use it against the person who stabbed him. Knowing that the other guys would help the suspect, he dragged the suspect out onto the street, and took his revenge. I have this idea that he already knew that he was going to perish so he made sure that whoever killed him would get his just desserts.

Long story, really, but let’s just say that D’s cousin died, and the person who stabbed him was also killed. The amazing thing is that D’s cousin is actually quite lean with some muscles because he is the one who is in charge of the pork roasting business (lechon business) – he actually was the one who kills the pigs and cooks them. The suspect was bigger than him – almost D’s size but shorter and a bit stockier – but D’s cousin was able to drag him out of the alley, even when he already had wounds and the opponent did not have a single bruise on him.

Anyway, like I said, it is a long story. All I can say is that the image I saw at the hospital cannot be erased from my mind. See, I was the person who went to the hospital to ensure that D’s cousin got the attention and help he deserved. This is because D’s grandparents are already old with some problems of the heart, and my mother in law had already started getting queasy. Anyway, D’s cousin was interred today at 1 p.m. And, as most burials go, it was quite stressful, but I am just wishing that D’s cousin, and even the other guy, will rest in peace.

Other updates

These days, I am going gaga over Kate Voegele’s album, “A Fine Mess“. Somehow I feel that her songs relate to me or something. The lyrics are actually good, and I can relate parts ot it to my life. Here are some lines from her song “Lift Me Up” which I think I can relate to. :D

This road is anything but simple
Twisted like a riddle I’ve seen high and I’ve seen low
So loud, the voices of all my doubts
Telling me to give up, to pack up and leave town

Even so, I had to believe
Impossible means nothing to me, yeah

You can listen/watch the lyrics and video here (please be patient a bit since it has an intro from One Tree Hill)

P.S. I feel UBER creative (I know I have said that before) but I do not feel like sharing with the world. :P Maybe later.

You’re a brave woman. You will get by with a grin, and maybe we should be setting our sights on roasting pigs for exercise. Game?

Congrats on going back to school lurch! And about the stabbing, did that happen in Dumaguete? With progress comes its share of violence I guess. I used to think stories as brutal as this only happened in the bigger cities :( Condolence to you and your hubby’s family.

    Thanks selle :D

Yeah, the stabbing happened close to our home.. uhm, like on the adjacent road or something. Nah, what happened was something borne out of people who just could not keep themselves from gossiping and making people fight each other. Shame on them. *sigh* anyway, thanks. *hugs*
