Sunday Snippets #2: Dr. Seuss and I
Sorry for being AWOL last Sunday. Anyway, here is the second Sunday Snippets for you to enjoy. Here is a quote from Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.”, and at the bottom of it is the question you are to answer:
“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go.”

I think the quote is quite meaningful. Then again, I think Dr. Seuss is very witty and full of insight. Nevertheless, I feel that the quote relates to a huge problem that I have heard from my friends lately. I think it is something related to their quarter-life crisis thingie and they are getting confused as to what they are going to do with their lives..
I passed this road once, you know. I.. Well actually we all go through this road of wondering where we go again and again. It is like this huge Rotunda that we have to go around and around and around and around. But mainly, I feel that this quote relates to the fact taht we are masters of our fate. we cannot go on and blame people for hindering us from doing things that we want to do. If we dream, then we dream as high as we can and as far as we can go.
Some of my friends have this feeling of being inadequate or not knowing enough to get by. But I believe we can always add to this lack of knowledge as there is a HUGE reservoir of information everywhere you go. You can either read, read, or read at any time of your life, and still gain some knowledge. So you decide where you will go in life by making steps with your feet in shoes. LOL.
You are the one who will decide where to go. And that is the truth. No excuses when it comes to the things that are supposedly hindering you from further making progress in life.
Like what some of my friends say about their brains. They say that their brains are full.. or their brains are slow… or that their brains are outdated. All i can answer is: update it.
I do not think I will ever let go of my concept that it is never too late to learn. If you want to go back to school, then go back to school. If you dont want to go back to school or you cant, then learn in any way that you can. Libraries are always available… and there is always Wikipedia. Okay, so maybe Mr. Wiki is not always that correct. BUT you are sure to pick up something worthwhile in that website. Or you can check out other websites. Or you can watch TV. That also helps – but maybe not the cartoons so much.
The point is, if you want to, and you know what you know… “oh, the places you’ll go.”
And another thing… you know, Alanis Morissette was right in her song “You Learn” where she sings, “You live, you learn.” And that is another thing that somehow makes sense to me… that is related to the quote above. Can you see my point? I hope so.. and this is the end. Arrivederci!
