June 5, 2009 – It was D’s birthday and we planned to watch Angels and Demons at the local movie theatre. Unfortunately, my work hours ended at 3 pm which meant that if we were going to leave the kids at the Child Minding Center where Sophie was going, we would have to come back and pick them up at 5 pm. Since Frankie and D arrived at the office at 3 pm, obviously the time was not enough to watch a full feature film, especially since the movie started at 3:45 pm (thereabouts).
At any rate, since we cancelled the plan on watching the movie, D and I still had to pick up Sophie at the Center. There, Frankie was wide-eyed and alert watching the kids move around the place. You could see his obvious interest, but he held back – like an animal scoping out the new territory or something. Sophie, on the other hand, being the little showgirl that she is, ran this way and that, showing her father the things inside the Center.
After a few minutes or so, Frankie said that he wanted to go to his “Ate Pia” so I let him in.
There was something heart melting the way Frankie went in. He did not mind the other kids but went straight to the slide with his face all aglow. Sophie, on the other hand, was on instantly watchful following her brother this way and that. And when Frankie rode on one toy, Sophie was at his back, pushing him around making sure none of the big kids were crashing into her brother. She kept saying “si Koykoy ni!” [this is Koykoy! (her nickname for Frankie)]. It was like she was really pleased her brother was there or something. In fact, she almost got into a fist fight when one boy crashed into the two of them. Hehehe.. funny coz if it were Frankie who even just bumped into Sophie at home, she would scream and cry, but at the Center, she was Frankie’s defender.
The kids had a ball, and after an hour or so, we had to go home because D and I had made backup plans for his birthday. Of course, we had to pry Frankie loose from the toy he was playing as his playtime at the Center was just not enough for him. Sophie had to coax him out of the toy truck, promising him Jollibee if he would just go home peacefully. Suffice it to say, I had to carry a kicking and screaming Frankie out of the Center because none of Sophie’s tactics worked.
I know some people might have my head for this, but I failed to take any pictures despite the fact that I did bring a camera with me. It’s just that it was so fun to watch the kids play that I forgot to take out the digital camera that I brought with me. LOLz Maybe next time.
We were hoping to bring both kids in regularly, but clearly Frankie is still not that ready. Besides, I do not think Sophie will have fun or will learn a lot if Frankie is there, since she keeps following him around, being the “ate” that she is.

~Sigh~
They grow up so fast..
heheh yeahp.. that they do. LOL
