You could not imagine my surprise when I traipsed over to Lee Super Plaza today just to buy diapers when I noticed a brand new display on the side of where the frozen goods were located. Haagen-Dazs!! I hurried to the diaper section, plucked out what I wanted to buy, and went straight to the display case that boasted of its yummy goods. *yummy* Hah! I wanted to buy one on the spot!

What is Haagen-Dazs? Well, Haagen-Dasz is a popular brand of ice cream from the United States. It was founded by a Polish immigrants right around 1961. Although many mistake Haagen-Dazs as ice cream founded in a country other than America, the company actually opened its first store in Brooklyn, New York. How American could that get? It’s initial flavors include: chocolate, coffee, and vanilla, and to date, the company produces ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and ice cream bars.
I think I first tasted Haagen-Dazs when I was much younger, but I cannot remember exactly how it managed to reach Dumaguete. Now I could be wrong, but I do not think I have seen Haagen-Dazs being sold in Dumaguete prior to today. I am a certified ice cream lover and I must say that I have wished for this brand of ice cream to come over our end.
The timing of Haagen-Dazs first appearance in Dumaguete could not be any better. With the blistering heat and the temperature simply unbearable, surely people would be really find a reason to taste Haagen-Dazs, especially if they have not yet tried it.
However, I must express my dismay regarding the prices. I honestly would have bought one right away when I saw it, but it took a lot of courage for me to step away from the display case. The prices are as follows: Php. 185.00 (small cup), Php. 501.00 (500ml tub), Php. 268.00 (or somewhere thereabouts for ice cream bars).
Good thing I checked the prices first or I would have made a huge error! There is no way I am going to pay for THAT much for ice cream! Well, maybe later when I have extra cash to burn. I mean, geez! for the tub of ice cream I gather I could purchase two half gallons of ice cream from Selecta, or perhaps 44 pieces of ice cream sticks (whatever they are called) from Selecta still.
My heart still aches. I want Haagen-Dazs.
Somebody buy me even the small one? Teehee…
Lainee should do the blogging about ice cream, really. She will blog for ice cream.
I can, too! Haagen-Dazs please? Please? Please??
P.S. I am waiting for Ben and Jerry’s to reach Dumaguete as well.
eh? really? weeeeeee!!! finally!
Hmmmm…now after all the hooplah and such… both ice creams don’t have much in them by way of taste…although…Ben and Jerry’s have some really awesome flavors but I personally love Cold Stone Creamy kay they mix ur ice cream in front of you…hehehe you can ask a blend of your fave flavors and toppings!
Useless Info: Haagen-Dazs is a word that is completely made up and doesn’t mean anything at all. It just sounds so foreign.. LMAO
Haagen-Dazs…. its prob. named that because you make that sound when you drool over their ice cream…or maybe its just me haha!
I can’t blog about the ice cream in Dumaguete coz I don’t experience it first-hand
so it’s only right that you blog about it
