Anthology of Snippets

Yesterday, I mentioned about getting my hair cut mainly because at the start of this month, I thought it was a bit overgrown already. AND it is Summer, right, and seriously, the world is just so hot beyond compare. I really felt bothered by my hair and I am not one to keep tying it since forever. So, I went downtown just to get my hair shortened a bit.

I went to the place where the hairdresser has been my hairdresser since forever – more like since I was still 5 or 6 years old. I struck gold when I appeared at the shop and there was nobody there so I would not have to wait long. So, I smiled and said my greetings to the hairdresser, and he said:

Hairdresser [HD]: Hi, gang (a local endearment), what can I do for you today?
Me: Hi, HD! I would like to have my hair cut, it is just so hot lately.
HD: Yes, summer is finally here. I thought you were going to have hair and make up done today?
Me: Ah.. no, not today. Just my hair please. *insert sweet smile here*
HD: Alright, do you want a haircut like Kris?
Me: Uhh.. Kris? Kris who..? *I’m kinda slow*
HD: You know, Kris… Kris Aquino.
Me: Oh.. I’m not familiar with her current haircut. I just want something that would look good on me… perhaps the usual?
HD: Sure sure.. no problem. I have an idea.. You will look great in it!
Me: Great. Oh, and I prefer the length to be at least up to my shoulders.
HD: *stares at me momentarily* Okay. Don’t worry, you will be just fine. After all, it is summer, let me take care of you.
Me: *grins* Okay, great.

I settled on the chair and got comfortable. HD covered me up with the smock and sprayed water on my hair and parted the sections. When he made the first snip just right below my nape, my eyes went wide. OMG! I immediately thought, too short! Too short! I said shoulders!! What else could I do? *Snip* *Snip* *Snip* went the scissors and more portions of my hair floated down the floor.

Having no other choice as I did not want to anger HD and end up utterly butchered, I tried my best to close my eyes and trust him and his instincts. After a while of cutting, combing, and blow drying, I came out looking like this:

Eeeeeeeep!! It is just too short, if I may say so myself. Sure, it is loads airy and free, plus it makes me look younger. Well, I look much younger that I keep thinking “Grade 1 Section 11.” And since it is too short, I have no other choice but to swipe Sophie’s hairband to keep my hair from falling in front of my face.

I was a bit hesitant in coming home. Knowing D, he heavily disliked me with short hair. I was right. When I arrived home, his eyes widened in shock and laughed in disbelief. He said I looked like when I was in elementary. Although he did say that it was not that bad, really. He said I looked good, it’s just that I look like a kid with a round face. Oh well, he said he preferred the long hair, but I look good anyway.

There is that feeling of wanting to cry for what happened. But then again, what else could I do? I just need to rock the hairstyle. Admittedly, it makes me look the huge person that I am. LOL. Oh well, there are reasons for these things… I still like the fact that it’s the summertime.

Now I am gonna buy myself a dress and make myself feel better.
