[WQ] Love songs anyone?

I think it was last year – or the other year – that I saw VH1′s Top 40 Worst Love Songs of All Time. Ironically, there are loads of good love songs in their list. However, they did justify why they chose each song to be in their list.

For example, one of their songs is “All My Life” by KC and Jojo. Although I cannot remember what they gave as reason, per se, I think it was because of the line “close to me you’re like my mother, close to me you’re like my…”. Of course, that is their opinion all together. I think lyrics-wise, they had some good arguments, but these things always differ, right?

Anyway, Teacher Julie has once again asked us something for this week. Now, her question goes:

What are the love songs that touched your heart the most?

Hmmm.. tough question. See, I love love songs. I can go gaga over the most heart melting songs – but then again, seriously I love music. Period. However, just to answer Teacher Julie’s question, I shall present a list of SOME songs that have touched my heart, but not in a particular order. There is one though that I will set aside for being on top of my list.

I will gladly cry anytime for this one. I have heard this song a long time ago [before I even met D], but it never meant as much to me as when [back when D and I were still dating] D somewhat dedicated it to me. Even today he maintains that this song will be THE song he has for me. Hahahaha shhhh Not a lot of online playlists have this song, so I will just link you to YouTube and give you the lyrics here:

I Don’t Wanna Lose You by The Spinners

Who do you think you are
Who do you wanna be
You’re the only one that really knows

Maybe you’ll be surprised
After your search is through
When you find you’ve just been chasing you

Believe me I understand
The vision of your mind
But I’m so afraid
That the girl you find
May not need a man like me

I don’t wanna lose you
I love you as you are
I don’t wanna lose you
I couldn’t love you more (more)
Tell me, love will remain
Though we may change

I really think that you
Have little faith in me
You’re the only one I’ll ever need
If you really understand
How much you mean to me
All your doubts would fade and disappear

Maybe me you’ll never find
The secrets of your mind
But you’ve got to try
And I realize
And I’ll help you all I can

I don’t wanna lose you
I love you as you are
I don’t wanna lose you
I couldn’t love you more (more)
Tell me, love will remain
Though we may change

I don’t wanna lose you
I love you as you are
I don’t wanna lose you
I couldn’t love you more
I don’t wanna lose you
I love you as you are
I don’t wanna lose you
I couldn’t love you more

It could have been the song that made me fall harder. Who knows? :)

Here are the other songs that I like:

  • Barbra Streisand – I Finally Found Someone
  • KC & Jojo – All My Life
  • Tony Bennett – The Way You Look Tonight
  • Extreme – More Than Words
  • Sinead O’Connor – Nothing Compares 2 U

  1. These are wonderful songs, Lurchelle :) I feel happy to see yo like old songs, back when it was simpler but seemingly more intense :) Not that I am saying being in love now is less intense, its just that there are many distractions, lol!
