[WQ] My Favorite Romantic Movie(s)

So I decided to kick start the week with my weekly question from Teacher Julie since I forgot about the one last week (I really wanted to answer that). So here it goes.

What are your favorite romantic movies of all time?

I think it is a bit safe to say that I am a movie buff. I have been for as long as I could keep up with the growing number of movies. Still, despite having a variety of likes and dislikes, I cannot help but always look towards the imaginary aisle which says “Romantic Movies” or “Romantic Comedies”. D keeps on laughing at me because he thinks it’s just too… uhmm.. “girly” LOL.

Anyway, when I read the question, the first movie that came to my mind was THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES. This movie stars Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges as two professors who get married out of agreement and not for love. What I like about this movie is that Gregory (Bridges) actually falls for who Rose (Streisand) really is and even after she goes on this makeover he prefers her old self to the made-over one. Plus, the soundtrack I Finally Found Someone kills me. AND (LOL) though the movie is not that powerfully made, it just speaks to me. (Is that even logical?)

That movie, I guess would top my list. However, I still have other favorites and these include [in particular order]:

• When Harry met Sally… starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal
• Sex and the City starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon
• Somewhere in Time starring Richard Gere and Jane Seymour
• Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman
• West Side Story starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer
• Roman Holiday starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck
• The Notebook starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling
• Funny Girl starring Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif
• Sabrina starring Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond
• …

It would take me forever to list all the romantic movies that I love. But yeahp, those definitely top my list, or at least what I remember of my list.

I am seriously searching for more romantic movies these days, but you certainly cannot beat the good ol’ classics. If you have noticed, the quality of some movies these days, with regards to supposed “romantic movies” is that there is simply a lot of X-rated parts. I prefer my romantic movies to be about the *kilig* portions instead of the heated ones.

Hooboy… there I go. Now I feel like getting my hands on all the romantic movies I can find. LOL For now, let me share with you the official soundtrack of The Mirror Has Two Faces. I hope you like it, it has snippets of the movie itself.

   I love The Mirror Has Two Faces! But my all time fave is Somewhere in time.. Oh by the way, its not Richard Gere in Somewhere in time.. its Christopher Reeve.

   I like all the movies you have listed and my favorite is Somewhere in Time. I think I was still preggy with Z when we went to see the movie in the big screen at PARK theater.

   you should watch benny and joon. it isn’t the typical romantic chuva but it’s great. plus, it’s got johnny depp!

   These are very good movies. I admit, it used to be that these classics seem corny but now, they are wonderful to watch.
