A Month of Classes at Parole School

It has been a month or so since I escaped from camp minus prison. I even got this dedication for me as prepared by the Wookiee princess, dear Miss Feyoh. Do I have regrets? Not really, but I am beginning to think that while I made my escape to be relieved of the tiredness camp minus prison brings, life as a Jedi is not at all easy.

After successfully going through the loops over the last few weeks, I think I have stepped closer to the edge and now I am a Jedi Knight. These days, I have been tasked to practice wielding my fuchsia pink lightsaber to the tune of Lady GaGa’s Just Dance. Suffice it to say, I think I have been getting the hang of it. The Greatest Jedi Master Vreento (all hail Master Vreento!) has transformed into Darth Vreento, and though I pray that he will teach me all that he knows, time might be running out. Nevertheless, I am hopeful that Darth Vreento will be called back into the light.

Although things may not be as easy-peasy as life in camp minus prison, I still find myself eager to go to Parole School where my habitual tardiness becomes a sign of eagerness as I am one of the first to arrive there. I do get bouts of nostalgia every now and then especially since back at camp minus prison, I could do backflips and nobody would care. Well, in Parole School, they don’t care really, yet oddly enough, I feel obligated to restrain myself. It could be because I respect the members of the High Council, or maybe not. For those who knew how much of a restless person I was in camp minus prison, my current status of being a Jedi Knight who forgets to stand up once in a while would be a huge difference.

In terms of fun or not, being in Parole School gives a whole new meaning to “time flies when you are having fun.” I honestly love the fact that I get to blast music whilst I work, and I get to munch on foodie or the fact that I get to save more and even get to walk further while at Parole School.

My next project would be to purchase running shoes. Yes, until today I still have not purchased running shoes. I guess it’s just that one cannot locate the perfect sturdy pair of shoes fit for my gargantuan feet at a relatively low price, yes? Good luck with me finding women’s shoes that fit my feet.

For now, this Jedi Knight will go back to the ranks tomorrow and once again sheath her fuchsia pink lightsaber and practice her skills. I leave you with a quote that Darth Vreento said this afternoon, which he undoubtedly took from Darth Vader. He said: “The Force is strong with this one.”

A 13-year old DAD. Seriously.

The power of the Internet still does not fail me. I find so many interesting things online and this is one of those things that made my jaw drop – literally.

See, during my last few days at camp minus prison, I was doing some searching on children who have become parents at such a young age – the youngest being a 5-year-old girl a couple of years back named Lina Medina. She had some problems with her hormones and apparently some nut decided to do something to her, so she got pregnant.

Just a few minutes ago, I chanced upon a website of a contact on multiply where she commented on a story about a 13-year old who became a father. I do not know about you, but this is the article that was taken from The Sun.

BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot.”

Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.

The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.

“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”

Alfie, who is just 4ft tall, added: “When my mum found out, I thought I was going to get in trouble. We wanted to have the baby but were worried how people would react.

“I didn’t know what it would be like to be a dad. I will be good, though, and care for it.”

Alfie’s story, broken exclusively by The Sun today has sparked a huge political storm with Tory leader David Cameron saying: “When I saw these pictures this morning, I just thought how worrying that in Britain today children are having children.

“I hope that somehow these children grow up into responsible parents but the truth is parenthood is just not something they should be thinking about right now.”

The Tale of the Summer Hair

Yesterday, I mentioned about getting my hair cut mainly because at the start of this month, I thought it was a bit overgrown already. AND it is Summer, right, and seriously, the world is just so hot beyond compare. I really felt bothered by my hair and I am not one to keep tying it since forever. So, I went downtown just to get my hair shortened a bit.

I went to the place where the hairdresser has been my hairdresser since forever – more like since I was still 5 or 6 years old. I struck gold when I appeared at the shop and there was nobody there so I would not have to wait long. So, I smiled and said my greetings to the hairdresser, and he said:

Hairdresser [HD]: Hi, gang (a local endearment), what can I do for you today?
Me: Hi, HD! I would like to have my hair cut, it is just so hot lately.
HD: Yes, summer is finally here. I thought you were going to have hair and make up done today?
Me: Ah.. no, not today. Just my hair please. *insert sweet smile here*
HD: Alright, do you want a haircut like Kris?
Me: Uhh.. Kris? Kris who..? *I’m kinda slow*
HD: You know, Kris… Kris Aquino.
Me: Oh.. I’m not familiar with her current haircut. I just want something that would look good on me… perhaps the usual?
HD: Sure sure.. no problem. I have an idea.. You will look great in it!
Me: Great. Oh, and I prefer the length to be at least up to my shoulders.
HD: *stares at me momentarily* Okay. Don’t worry, you will be just fine. After all, it is summer, let me take care of you.
Me: *grins* Okay, great.

In the Summertime…

Okay, this is going to sound a tad bit weird, but seriously, I have been wearing a smile since early this morning. A friend says I look happy, and I admit, I am. The only problem is that I do not know exactly why I am smiling like a dork. As much as I would like to wipe the dorky smile off my face because I fear bad tidings will come (karma = smile now; cry later), I think I can smile at bad things to come. Weird? Oh and I have been having these deja’ vu episodes lately of bad things that are coming.

At any rate, has anybody noticed that it is already Summertime? I have heard Ehn say the last time we met that Summer has already stepped through the door, and I think I am liking it. It’s weird because at the thought of Summer, I cannot help but be excited or happy or ecstatic even!

The thing is, I can distinctly remember that the last time I was ecstatic about Summer was back when I was still in high school. That would be logical since I have never had a free Summer since I started college. Back in college, I took classes during Summer so I never really got to enjoy Summer. Then, after I graduated, Summer never really meant anything to me so I did not notice that it came and went.

Oh, but this year feels different. Although technically I have no “Summer Break” I really feel happy. It’s like I want to do cartwheels, back flips, and dance around. The heat is a cause of my headaches, yes, and I do need to purchase new sunglasses, but other than that, I want to prance around the sun and just smile all day. That is my current state of emotion. Wouldn’t you find that weird from somebody who just adores rain, clouds, and wind? (I still love my sunlight though).

Then there’s that urge to purchase sundresses, flipflops, and cut my hair short. Eeeeep! I wanna ride Roxy (the bike) around town and take the kids to the park and buy ice cream (no softdrinks)… LOL I get visions of popsicles melting on the hot asphalt and chips and movies, and …and… grass. Hooboy, somebody has definitely lost her marbles. Still, one cannot be blamed for being happy, right?

Seriously, I am creeped out by my demeanor… but I gather it is a good thing – a very good thing. *now I feel like dancing*

In the summer time when the weather is fine
You could stretch right up and touch the sky

Are you glad it’s summertime?

KFC comes to Dumaguete

Last February 18, KFC opened in Dumaguete. As usual, people flocked over to the newly opened venue to check out the goods that they are offering. Dumagueteños are known for their healthy appetites, especially when it comes to chicken, so I was not exactly surprised that when Ehn and I attempted to buy something from their moving store, we ended up with nothing as the lines were unbelievably long.

A colleague of mine at Parole School was lucky enough to purchase a KFC bucket meal (if I am correct) but was dismayed that the taste was not at par with some other KFC branches. This, of course, affected my impression, and now I am not so keen on purchasing anything from the store. Well, perhaps maybe later. LOL

At any rate, I believe this is a bit of a test done by KFC as to whether or not their products will do well in Dumaguete. Besides, if you think about it, Dumagueteños love their chicken, and there are definitely a lot of places where you can buy great tasting chicken at affordable prices. However, I am pretty sure that the residents will love another source of chicken delights. I only hope that KFC will improve their uhmm cooking so that not a lot of people will complain.

So far, I think Pizza Hut was the only big-time company to fail in Dumaguete. I blame that one on their price and the location. Sorry folks, but since the people in Dumaguete love to eat, most of the people just make a beeline towards the cheaper and more accessible ones and save the fancy visits to once a month events – or not.

I honestly look forward to buying take-out from the KFC mobile soon. There are some things that you just cannot leave up to hear-say. Besides, I have a taste palette of my own! ;) hehehehe

If you have tried the KFC in Dumaguete, how was your experience? :)
