I wanted to write more posts at the start of this year, but certain things made me a tad bit lazy when it came to writing posts. If you were to ask me how hard it is to write, I can say in a heartbeat that it is easy writing or composing a post. Seriously. Perhaps it is just because I have too many things in my mind or too many things to say. In addition, I also have too many things going on. I still think blogging helps clear out those cobwebs.
Now, a new year has come. I do not know as to when I might be able to post this since my web host has decided to kill everybody and all businesses it has hosted. Oh well, so much for that. Looking back at 2008, I would say that it has been one hell of a ride! Bear with my post since I think this may be a long one… some people would say that I should make shorter posts, but how can one squeeze a year into a post? That would be quite a challenge.
Let’s just take a look at last year’s New Year’s resolutions and let us see if I had made any progress. Now, last year, this is what I declared for my New Year’s resolution:
- Spend more time with the kiddies
- Earn more
- Eliminate a bigger part of debts
- Save more
- Lose weight (?) – 1-5 pounds will do! hehehe
- Learn to cook more – maka balaw cge balik balik foody
- Learn to budget time – de, you have to let me borrow your book
- Learn the art of GTD (Getting Things Done)
- Set up trust fund for kiddies
- NOT GET PREGNANT –
I was actually surprised when I checked this out just now. Surprisingly, I have managed to achieve almost all of last year’s New Year’s resolutions. In certain ways, the way the each resolution was achieved was not exactly how it goes, but if you think about it, the resolutions have been achieved.
Say for example, I learned how to budget time – okay, so it is not that perfect yet, but I have learned and compared with the past years, I think last year was better. And on losing weight, I know I have lost more than 5 pounds last year especially during the summer… but I may have gained more back. LOL. I learned how to Get Things Done – only I managed to get more things to be done. *faint* I saved more this year, but I managed to spend it because I eliminated ALL of my debts at a certain point. I earned more of course because somehow last year’s being the YEAR OF THE RAT did prove to be in my favor despite the rather crappy start [see Laid OFF]. The best resolution that I achieved? I DID NOT GET PREGNANT! Yay me!
Perhaps the only thing I neglected to achieve was to set up a trust fund for the kids. I guess that can wait a few more months or so?
Two events happened last year that rocked my world. First was the passing of an aunt of mine (actually the sister-in-law of my father) who somewhat stepped into my mother’s shoes during certain times in my life. She welcomed me into her family with open arms and it was really sad to just learn out of the blue that she passed on. The second blow was much bigger since it would be my grandfather who would leave me. He was such a force in my life that somehow words cannot describe how much he meant to me.
Suffice it to say, my 2008 was a colorful, learning experience, which made it fly so fast. I had a lot of fun last year. Perhaps that is why I am raring for 2009 to go go go!
P.S. I will post what I aim to do later.
