Frugal Chinese: Soiled Condoms as Hair Bands?!

Holey Moley!

As if the melamine scandal and the lead in toys issue is not enough, China uses recycles soiled condoms in their manufactured hair bands. You know, these types of hair bands which we think are pretty to wear and nice to use.

I mean… eeeeeew!!

But I mean, perhaps not all of these products have the recycled condoms. Where on earth would they get that amount of condoms? Recycling bins? Scavenging? Even more eeeewww… Surely there are many transmittable diseases that can result from that. right? For example, it is a time-old practice to often hold the hair band on the mouth whilst fixing the hair. If that is a used condom inside the hairband, it would tantamount to you biting a soild condom. *faints*

This is old news by the way, I stumbled upon a blog that talked about it and I delved further. This issue came out in November last year. Perhaps the Chinese officials have done something to attend to this issue.

Still, I cannot shake the fact that the hair bands we use on children and ourselves are condoms!

While it is quite an innovative and frugal way to earn more… I cannot fathom what entered the minds of the Chinese who manufacture these hair bands. If world domination is their goal, well I think they are getting there with these things they are doing. I cannot help but wonder what is next..?

  1. Oh no, they did not…I already made it a point not to eat anything that is remotely related to the Chinese, even it was not manufactured there. Now I guess I’ll have to avoid any type of Chinese product, edible or not, altogether!

Only one question though: who collects all the used condoms? Do they have condom collectors stationed at every house, hotel, or motel in China? Haha, just a thought ;)

  2. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW gross! hahahaha I could stomach an UNUSED condom…but a SOILED one? faint 2x!

  3. ga ininut napud ag mga insik. hahhaha!

  8. @feyoh: hahahhahahah :P just think of it as something informative. wakekeke

  9. ey Lors, i really don’t think they used the “used” ones. Condoms abound out there and maybe if some poor community used that for business, oh well, fine, it makes the band more sturdy. If they used the elastic material inside the thread it won’t break the band easily. right? cg lang if i can find one here of that kind mopalit ko and i will check it for myself if used condom ba jud. hahahaha

  10. @arlene: hehehe but sis, they said recycled! besides, why would they use non used ones? that would ultimately be a waste right? =/ hehehe cge cge.. coz if I take the logic of the Chinese who basically try to save stuff medyo naa sad logic if they do recycle. weahahaha.. oh well.. ingna ra ko sis.. im not sure which brands have the condoms.. but like I said, it was a year ago, so somebody must have dealt with it already. :D
