WQ#14: Claiming of Beauty (not the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty!)

*eHem* WQ time! I think Teacher Julie might have my head for failing to answer the previous week’s question. Sorry, Ms Julie! :( Maybe I can fit it in this week..??

Anyway, the question of the week:

What are your facial or beauty regimens that you do before you go to sleep?

And my answer goes:

Nada. Zip. Zero. Nothing!

I know I should be taking better care of myself these days. It is not like I am getting any younger. But as experience has taught me, I am not exactly suited for beauty regimens.

Actually, I envy some of my friends who started their beauty regimens way back in high school. They had their Ponds, Eskinol, and other creams and whatnots placed on their faces. I wanted to try that, too! Well, I did, actually, and I ended up with rashes or something close to a zit or acne. Thankfully though, my father gave me relatively good skin, so I did not suffer much.

I tried other stuff, but I almost always get some sort of undesirable reaction whenever I use beauty products, so before I fly off to Neverland, I just take a short wash or so – using Safeguard (this is not an advertisement!). I tried other soap, too. But I get the same results. So I stick with Safeguard.

…..and that is THAT!

Safeguard: Eliminates 99% bacteria! LOL

For WANT of a…

Have you ever heard of the proverbial rhyme called “For Want of a Nail”? I have. I know of that rhyme since I was in preschool, since I really loved to read, and I had access to many books. In case some of you have not heard of it, the rhyme goes like this:

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Back then, the weight of the rhyme was not so evident on me. Of course, I knew that all that hullabaloo was because of that one single nail, but I never thought more of it.

I want to read.

If you do not count the ebooks that I have read, then it would suffice it to say that I have not finished a whole book in MONTHS. It drives me crazy knowing that I think I only managed to finish 2 paperback books since January. I would honestly give an arm and leg to just finish a book, or even get a hold of a good one.

Just recently, I have been showing up on National Bookstore’s doorstep hoping to snag a good buy. I have found numerous seemingly interesting books at bargain prices there. My hands have itched more than they ought to, but I left Natio’s glass doors with nary a purchase.

I want to read sooooooooo bad. But when I look at those books, I do not feel like reading them. I do not know what books I want to read right now. However, I do know that I am already very bored with the endless supply of romance novels and chick lit novels (by the way, I finished a good chick lit novel – I’ll talk about it later). I guess the question that is hanging now is, “what am I looking for?”

Seriously? I do not know. I feel inclined to read about self-help stuff, but not so much. Fiction? Not really.. Not in the mood for dungeons and dragons. Romance? As I said.. I am getting bored with it. Erotica? It never fails to catch my attention, but I want something deeper (jk!). Biographies? Hmm.. maybe. History? Could be good.. Ack! Maybe I should just drown myself in classics that I have not read and that will be the end of it!

Unless of course you can recommend a book or two? Or perhaps throw me something worn and well loved over through the post, I will be happy to pay for it. Or for shipment… something. ;)

Yet another web host malfunction

If any of you noticed, the comments on the previous post have mysteriously disappeared. I honestly do not understand why my web host is going nuts again. It does seem to be that way every month eh?

Currently, I am selling another web host – not this faulty one – and I am seriously thinking of transferring to the other web host. Can somebody actually blame me if I transferred? It is not like I am really, really, really, really getting my money’s worth. I loathe the fact that I have to constantly back up my posts just to prevent July’s mishap from happening again.

Oh well, at least this time around only the comments are gone.

*sigh*

I refuse to let this get to me.

Simple Pleasures: Iced Treat

Today, I was supposed to indulge in one of the simple pleasures that I have learned to enjoy lately. However, due to certain reasons, which I cannot divulge as of the minute as I might have my head chopped off, Live, April, and Daphy cancelled on the massage date. The canceled date left a huge hole in my agenda – despite a meeting we had to be present in.

I arrived home approximately half-past four, and played with Frankie for a couple of minutes while Internet doctors tried to figure out why we lost our much relied on Internet connection. However, the call of the articles that needed to be attended to was so strong that I asked permission from Dhirrac to go out into the world and work again at a cafe. It would have been an opportunity to eavesdrop on others, no?
